Team members from The Warehouse Group recognise Earth Day

The Warehouse Group team collected close to 112 kilograms of rubbish to mark Earth Day in partnership with Sustainable Coastlines.

The Group’s Chief Sustainability Officer, David Benattar was part of the Group scouring a variety of North Shore beaches and reserves for rubbish and said the team’s collection aligned well with this year’s Earth Day theme, Restore Our Earth.

"Earth Day is a reminder that each one of us has an essential role to play in caring for our planet and making a meaningful contribution to ensuring that we can all live safe, healthy and thriving lives."

Rubbish was cleaned up and removed from Little Shoal Bay, Northcote Point and Tuff Crater on Auckland's North Shore.

Dan Downing from Sustainable Coastlines maintains that reconnecting people with their environment is a considerable part of motivating individuals to look after our coasts.

"Our clean-ups are about getting our there, having fun, and growing our connection to nature. That connection is what inspires people to change their behaviours to reduce plastic in their day-to-day lives. And what better day to take action than Earth Day?"

The Warehouse Group has completed several clean-ups over the past few years as part of its continued commitment to supporting local communities and caring for the environment.
