The Warehouse donates $250,000 to Women’s Refuge

The Warehouse has donated a quarter of a million dollars from the proceeds of its Mega Toy Month to support Women’s Refuge’s Kids in the Middle programme.

The funds will help to provide enhanced support and tailored services for children in Women’s Refuge’s care.

Chief Product Officer at The Warehouse Group, Tania Benyon, hopes the donation will positively contribute to the wellbeing of the children when faced with leaving an unsafe home.

"We're incredibly proud to be working with Women's Refuge to help reduce family violence and hope that this donation will provide more significant and tailored support to help children feel safe and find comfort at Refuge."

The funds will enable Women’s Refuge to build child-friendly spaces in forty refuges across New Zealand and support the launch of a children's advocacy programme that will provide tailored resources and training to an initial eighty support workers. They will also create a welcome video to help educate children on the refuge environment.

Women's Refuge Chief Executive, Dr Ang Jury says she is grateful for The Warehouse’s longstanding support.

"We are excited to see the kids' visions come to life with help from The Warehouse and their Mega Toy Month donation. A big thank you to the entire The Warehouse team and their amazing customers all over Aotearoa for making our mahi easier with your generosity."
