Be the Joy this holiday season

While it’s the best time of year to gather with friends and family, the holiday season is also naturally all about giving. For many New Zealand families, stretching the budget to buy gifts and share a special family meal can be out of reach. This year, The Warehouse Group is making it even easier to bring cheer to families in need through its ‘Be the Joy’ campaign.

Through the fundraising campaign, customers will be able to donate goods and funds to Women’s Refuge and Variety at each of our store brands.

According to Women’s Refuge, one in three women will experience some form of abuse in their relationship, with many more coming dangerously close. Customer donations and support during the campaign will enable Women’s Refuge to support families in need.

More than 1 in 4 Kiwi kids go without the basics that many people can take for granted, which can impact kids’ health, education and self-esteem according to Variety. Toys donated for Variety through the campaign will ensure that disadvantaged Kiwi kids get the magical Christmas morning they deserve.

“The Warehouse Group has a long-standing relationship with Women’s Refuge and Variety, supporting the amazing work they do in communities around New Zealand,” says Bronwyn Clayden, Community Partnerships Manager. “Part of being Here for Good is supporting those less fortunate who need a helping hand during this time of year. I’m always blown away by the generosity of our customers and look forward to seeing the difference we can all make this year.”

From now through 15 December, customers at all Noel Leeming, The Warehouse, Warehouse Stationery and Torpedo7 stores across Aotearoa will be able to purchase a $10 gift tag in stores, and for every $10 gift tag sold, a toy to the value of $25 will be donated to a child in need through Variety.

At all 92 The Warehouse stores, customers can bring an unwrapped gift to one of the marked bins at the front of the stores to be donated to the local Women’s Refuge shelter. Proceeds from The Warehouse’s quarterly reusable bag campaign, this time featuring totes with limited-edition designs by Trelise Cooper, will go to Variety.

Additionally, The Warehouse will be donating 68 swing and slide sets to Women’s Refuge shelters around the country, and team members at our Store Support Office will be able to donate gifts for Women’s Refuge as well. Noel Leeming will also be supporting Women’s Refuge by donating electronic goods for its shelters.

This is the first time the Group has run a unified giving campaign for Christmas across all of its store brands. Last year’s campaign, run exclusively at The Warehouse stores, raised $69,000 to supply toys to kids through Variety.

This year’s name, Be the Joy, was chosen to reflect how important the donations from our customers are, and to show them that their donation is creating joy in the world. After all, isn’t that what Christmas is all about?
