The Warehouse heats up frozen meal game in Dunedin

In a move that’s promises to cook up plenty of interest, The Warehouse has announced the launch of its Market Kitchen frozen ready-made meals at its Hillside Road store in South Dunedin.

The new trio of Market Kitchen frozen dishes have been designed to appeal to the taste buds and wallets of Dunedin locals. The lineup includes the 1.5kg Market Kitchen Classic Beef Cottage Pie, 1.5kg Market Kitchen Smokey Bacon Macaroni and Cheese and 1.2 kg Market Kitchen Traditional Beef Lasagne.

They all retail for $20 and are available in-store only at the Hillside Road store from 4 April.

The Warehouse Grocery Lead Ryan Murphy says the Red Shed has listened to hungry Dunedinites crying out for quick, affordable eats that don’t sacrifice quality for convenience.

“Whether it’s a busy family or a student looking to fuel those study sessions, these new top-quality meals are about making life a little easier and a lot tastier – at just $20.”

“We’re expecting these frozen ready-made meals to be hugely popular in Dunedin, just like our grocery range, as an increasing number of Kiwis choose to shop with us as they search for affordable everyday essentials.

“Grocery sales now make up one-fifth of The Warehouse's total sales across the motu, reflecting a growing preference among Kiwi families for our affordable groceries. We now offer more than 9,000 grocery products at great prices, including our own private label Market Kitchen range, and have expanded fresh fruit and vegetables to 22 The Warehouse stores – including South Dunedin.

“If this trial goes well, we’ve got plans to expand our fresh and frozen ranges further across Dunedin and Otago.”

The Market Kitchen frozen meals were first trailed in Manukau before being rolled out in Dunedin, making South Dunedin only the second Warehouse store in the country to trial frozen ready-made foods.

All three of these frozen meal options are made in New Zealand, with no preservatives and no artificial colours or flavours, and offer a healthy nutritious meal for the whole family or flat at a super affordable price.
