TVNZ’s nostalgic treasure, Goodnight Kiwi is making a special return over the warmer months.
Proudly sponsored by The Warehouse and assisted by a troupe of celebrity helpers, the ever-iconic Kiwi and Cat are back - and this time they’re bringing a stellar selection of bedtime stories with them, exclusively for TVNZ OnDemand.
An all-star cast of bookworms, including Madeleine Sami and Jackie Van Beek, Evander Brown, Jeremy Wells, Stacey Morrison, Hilary Barry, Dean O’Gorman, The Topp Twins, Urzila Carlson Jayden Daniels and Oscar Kightley will read Kiwi kids their favourite stories this summer, from the poignant Stolen Stars of Matariki, to the hilarious I Need A New Bum (narrated by Jeremy of course!).
While the series aims to entertain, the underlying ambition of the show is to inspire kids to read more and help all families with their literacy goals. Iconic Kiwi business The Warehouse, with their longstanding charity partner Duffy Books in Homes understand this aim uniquely. To take the series further into homes around New Zealand, the books featured will form part of The Warehouse’s ‘buy one give one’ campaign. This drive gives schools and families who might not have the opportunity to own their own books greater access.
GM of Marketing Anna Lawrence says The Warehouse is thrilled to get behind the show and help inspire a love of reading among young Kiwis.
“Like The Warehouse, Goodnight Kiwi was a part of growing up for many New Zealanders and we’re thrilled to help relaunch the show for a new generation to enjoy and read along with.
“Reading can greatly impact a child’s life, but for many Kiwi families, book ownership can be out of reach. Which is why throughout the series, for every book sold at The Warehouse which is featured on Goodnight Kiwi, we’ll also be gifting a book to a child in need through Duffy Books in Homes.”
The series launches on 11th November, with two episodes per week. Kicking things off is comedy duo Madeleine Sami and Jackie Van Beek reading Baa Baa Smart Sheep and What Now’s Evander Brown narrating The Bomb.
TVNZ’s Associate Commercial Director, Jodi O’Donnell says “entertaining kids content, with a side of education is at the heart of our programming choices. It’s fantastic to team up with a brand that feels the same way and we’re excited to partner with The Warehouse to bring Kiwi kids something rather special this summer.”
